Is there anyone out there who has lost a family member or friend to cancer? Well I’m sad to say that I’ve just lost another, the wife of a good friend. Tragic as it may be, I thought I’d take this situation, which I cannot change, and try and perhaps encourage others to make a little shift in their lives and thus change the outcome for the better.
Diane’s husband asked me why a healthy girl should get cancer. Well on the surface she appeared healthy but when I analyzed her lifestyle she had stress, an acidic diet, lived in a toxic world and as it turns out she had a bad back. This I hadn’t even known as I hadn’t seen her in years. She had been heavily medicated for 18 months and had bravely got on with the business of being a Mum.
The only reason she got cancer is that her nervous system was being affected by a myriad of stressors from the outside: pain, medications, worry, poor food choices and more. This had suppressed the immune system and the delicate balance within the body had been lost. There had been no ‘health care’ in her life other than the usual ‘sick care’ – “hope I don’t get symptoms and if I do I’ll get some drugs to make them go away”. So, the symptoms had come, and by the time cancer was detected, it was an aggressive type of cancer and it was too late. Why am I writing this letter? Well, this newsletter goes out to thousands of people now, and every one of you will know at least one person who could have been saved by a chiropractic lifestyle, just as dear Diane could and should have been saved.
I ask you,“when would you want to learn that a loved one had cancer?” When they could be saved. Before it is too late, of course. We all have cancer cells all the time, but our healthy immune system destroys them as they appear. So look after your nervous system and your immune system, and those of your family. Keep physiology (how the body works) at its optimum level and get the basics right; that’s how to stay healthy. Remember that health is our natural state. If lost, it can only be regained by removing the factors that constantly drive us towards disease. For those of you who have attended my health class, you will know my Pillars of Health; moderate exercise, excellent nutrition in it’s most natural state, rest (6-8 hours sleep per night), positive mental attitude, the minimizing of destructive stressors from the outside and GETTING ADJUSTED to maintain that healthy spine and nervous system.

Movement is Life
Isn’t it funny how we can tend to completely ignore some of the simplest things whilst these are the most important things that keep us going? For example, without movement there could be no life. Blood cells that don’t move don’t transport oxygen; lungs that don’t move can’t breath; hearts that don’t move don’t pump; and spines that don’t move can’t create the motion required for proper joint nutrition or the maintenance of a healthy nervous system.
This information is so fundamental that it should be taught at school. Movement (especially the spine) is required for proper brain function, for the coordination of activities such as concentration and learning, emotions, motor control, organ and immune function. Roger Sperry won a Nobel Prize in 1982 for his work with the nervous system. He stated that the importance of movement of the spine in relation to brain function could be equated to that of a windmill that generates electricity for a power plant. He also stated that “the more structurally distorted we are, the less energy we have for metabolism, for healing, and for thinking”.
Think about it. You never really see someone with really stiff slow movement with a fast nimble brain, do you? For this very reason we in chiropractic know that in the future everyone will have a chiropractor, much the same as most would have a dentist now. It won’t be for back pain but to maintain the structural integrity of the very axis of life that is at our core. The smart people have learnt that periodic adjustments maintain movement and life is better.
So, please get you and the children out and moving around. Everyone will feel better, think better, have a healthier spine, have increased overall health, and enjoy a much greater quality of life.
Just Let Go
I know that many of you will recognize that constant battle that we seem to have between living a healthy or an unhealthy life. Daily dilemmas such as: Do I exercise enough? Do I eat fresh, wholesome food, or pizzas and burgers? Einstein stated that the definition of insanity is to continue doing the same things yet expecting a different result. We know it is hard to break habits of a lifetime, but think about it….maybe it’s time? Time to let go of those things that are not working.
Unhealthy relationships, stressful jobs, repressed emotions or just bad habits, will all effect health in a negative way. Healing begins when you let go of the situations. It is liberating and puts you on a better journey. If it doesn’t serve you for the better don’t do it; quite simply, don’t do it! When you let go, you begin the process of allowing positive change in all areas of your life. But, you have to start somewhere. Make a small change and feel good about it. The next becomes easier and eventually one can lead to another.
People ask me how I can possibly stick to my regime. Well, no one is perfect and I have littleslip ups but it is what you do 99% of the time that matters.
The changes I have made, for example my diet, start as an interest or hobby; then become a lifestyle; and then it becomes normal. Remember, health is our normal state and our body is constantly changing and adapting.
Unhealthy adaptive changes, if we are not careful, can lead us towards degeneration, a compromised nervous system and disease. Perhaps just by “letting go” of unhealthy choices, we can start to grow healthy again.
Testimonial of the Month
We met the lovely Cherie 4 months ago when she came to us whilst on a trip from the States. This is part of her testimonial …
“Before I met Dr Tim, I was in pain for 20 years. At 39 years of age, my low back was in constant agony and my neck had a reverse curve and was beginning a spur. Dizziness was frequent, total lack of energy was not uncommon and mental concentration was at times impeded. Sleep was a luxury that I rarely received due to back pain.
“Dr Tim has given me a totally new lease of life. After I rearranged my whole life to get adjusted 2-3 times a week and follow Dr Tim’s exercise recommendations for me … I feel fantastic! I have regained range of motion in my neck; have mental alertness and NO MORE LOW BACK AGONY. My neck has visibly moved towards it proper position.
“This fall, I will return to school to study art, which is something I never would have dreamed of before, since sitting for any length of time was unbearable which made study impossible.
“I sincerely recommend Marbella Chiropractic to anyone who is willing to stick with it to get better. It CAN happen. CHIROPRACTIC WORKS!”
Ok, that’s it for this month. We would like to say “Goodbye and Good Luck” to some of our clients who are leaving the coast at this time. Remember to keep up with your exercises and find a great Chiropractor near you!
To all, enjoy the rest of your summer and see you very soon.
Kind regards from us all at Marbella Chiropractic
