Sciatic Pain / Radiating Leg Pain
Sciatic pain is caused when the sciatic nerves are irritated and a flare-up can result in lower back pain, burning, cramping or numbness that radiates into the thighs, legs, ankles, feet and toes.
This occurs when the important nerves are irritated or pinched as they leave the spine in the low back. This can be an indication of a serious and worsening condition that can become quite disastrous for your health as nerves become more compressed.
Sciatic pain can occur with disc problems, poor posture, spinal arthritis, muscle imbalance or trauma.
It is vital that this condition is dealt with effectively as quickly as possible, as the more chronic it becomes the more difficult it can become to resolve. We have to be very careful to avoid lasting nerve damage.
Previous treatment may have involved pain medications, muscle relaxers, physical therapy, massage, acupuncture and even surgery.
Generally the nerve pain is the result of a degenerating disc due to poor function which needs a functional approach to resolve the problem. Specific chiropractic adjustments can have near miraculous results and the earlier they are administered the better.
Sciatic pain must be treated by someone who understands the spine
Due to the fact that sciatica is usually complicated by poor core muscle strength and poor postural habits, it is important that it is treated by someone who truly understands the workings of the spine.
One problem is that because the pain resulting from nerve entrapment can often become so severe, many patients are sent straight to surgery. Unfortunately, low back surgery usually does not remove the root cause of the problem, only the consequence, leading to further surgical intervention, and eventual fusion surgery, which has a poor long-term prognosis.
At Total Health Chiropractic we understand that this condition is the result of a functional problem and we allow the body to heal simply by improving the spine’s function. Everything we do makes complete sense and these adjustments can be very effective in treating a sciatic problem.

“I had endured 15 years of extremely bad back pain, and then 2-3 months ago, I became in constant agony with sciatica. I was amazed to achieve almost immediate relief with my first treatment in your office and am extremely happy with the relief I am feeling”. PS
