Frozen shoulder is a condition where there are severe restrictions and pain in the shoulder joint. For those of you who have experienced it, you will understand me when I say it really is extremely debilitating.
The capsule surrounding the joint is inflamed and scar tissue gradually causes more and more disability. The pain typically is a dull ache which can become sharp and severe with sudden movements. There is usually a loss of ability to raise the arm and sleeping on the affected side becomes extremely uncomfortable.
Bottom Line:
Frozen shoulder happens when shoulder injuries are not cared for properly; there are long periods of disuse; arthritis in the shoulder or neck causes dysfunction, or perhaps there is a chronic imbalance of the muscles forming the ‘shoulder girdle.’
In the case of Frozen Shoulder, it is very much a case of ‘the sooner the better’ for chiropractic care and resolution to prevent further deterioration. It is a functional problem that requires a functional solution.
