Sprouts: Super, Simple, Nutritious and Healthy. Back in Spain I learned how to grow my own sprouts and this I enjoyed greatly, and they really became a big part of my daily nutrition. Vitamin D, or the sunshine vitamin, is actually not truly a vitamin but is actually a pro-hormone (an inactive precursor a hormone), which is made by the body when skin is exposed to sunlight. It can also be ingested from certain foods or dietary supplements.
