Have you suffered any trauma to your neck?
Whiplash usually occurs when a car is struck from behind or collides with another object.
When this happens, the head is suddenly jerked back and forth beyond its normal limit.
The muscles and ligaments supporting the head and spine can then be stretched or torn.
The discs can tear or rupture and vertebrae forced out of their normal position, reducing range of motion. Resultant scar tissue ensures an increased rate of spinal degeneration and eventually increasing health issues – unless treatment is sought, and the earlier the intervention the better the final result.
Following a whiplash injury the resulting instability of the spine, which often involves a loss of normal neck curve, can contribute to headaches, dizziness, blurred vision, pain in the shoulders, arms and hands, reduced ability to turn and bend and low back problems. As the body attempts to adapt, symptoms may not appear until weeks or even months later.
Fortunately, at Total Health Chiropractic, we understand completely the mechanics of whiplash and the resultant spinal problems that result. We have developed programs to help the spine re-establish normal function and thus maximize the healing potential we all have within us.
During a full initial consultation, which includes a thorough case history and any necessary chiropractic, orthopedic and neurological exams, we first determine whether or not you are a suitable candidate for the spinal rehab procedures we employ in our clinic.
If necessary we will organize X-Rays in order that we can actually see any damage to your spine. Once we are happy that we have all the necessary information in order that we may give you the very best care, we will then outline the recommended treatment.
At Total Health Chiropractic, we use specific, gentle chiropractic manipulations or adjustments, gentle stretching and spinal stability and flexibility exercises. We have many specialized machines which help give us our outstanding results.
Remember to consult us before resorting to addictive pain medication, enduring constant whiplash-related headaches or submitting to surgery. Call us to make an appointment for an evaluation.
“A few months ago I was in a car accident and suffered extremely bad headaches afterwards. Luckily, someone recommended Dr Errington to me and I am so glad I took their advice. My headaches have disappeared and Dr Errington is resolving what could have been a major problem later on.”
