Do you want to create an amazing 2022?
Updated: Aug 14
Prepare for a good fast start so you can build momentum early.
2021 wasn’t much good and 2020 before it was just plain scary.
So, who’s up for an incredible 2022?
If you like me are more than ready to throw yourself into a new beginning then let’s make sure we are ready to really go for it.
It's all in the PREPARATION
Do you know what you want? You already know where you are now and how that feels. The fact that you’ve read this far means you are ready to implement some changes. That’s great then, because if your present situation isn’t absolutely perfect then you owe it to yourself to be that change, and the New Year is that perfect line in the sand.
We’re coming out of a pretty crappy time in history and as far as I’m concerned there’s only one way to go, and that is up.
So how do we start the new year strong?
Simple, we finish this year strong!
If you wind down now you’ll lose all momentum; if you’ve built up a lead, you’ll lose it; if you’ve made some fitness gains you’ll lose them.
So, if you want to have an amazing start to 2022, then finish 2021 strong.
Most people kind of drift in at the end of the year. The parties start, attention and focus are lost and a whole new set of stresses fills your headspace.
Of course, we’re going to take a break and we’re going to celebrate. We’ll make it a fun end to the year for sure and we’ll get to relax.
But, at the same time I personally can’t wait for next year; it’s going to be amazing. After the last couple it’s going to seem even better. Travel is coming back, live events, music, dining in groups…… parties! Remember them?
These are my commitments……
Nr 1. I am going to have a DRY JANUARY – I figure it’s good to take a break from anything that is addictive and what better time than after the inevitable excesses of Christmas and New Year. I did manage it last year and it felt great. The most noticeable thing was my improved sleep and all the benefits that brought.
Nr 2. I am going to complete a Four Week Elimination Diet. I’ve been suspecting that something I’ve been eating isn’t really agreeing with me. Some days I just don’t feel so energetic and my skin feels a little scratchy. I’m suspecting it is dairy or maybe gluten, but without genetic testing there really is only one way to find out. So I’m researching and preparing now. I’m going to have a plan, it’s going to be written down and I’m going to COMMIT!
That’s it, not too much, but definitely enough to make a real difference. I’m motivated, excited and committed. Bring it on! Lots of people decide to make changes, but like an alcoholic who decides all the time to stop drinking or a smoker who quits every year, without commitment to follow through they are doomed to failure. It’s about actually changing your state, not just deciding to do something at a whim. I remember one of my old coaches saying “A decision is a shift in what you are thinking. A commitment is a shift in who you are being.” And how right was he? By committing it will change your mindset, and that’s the key. Remember your mindset determines your thoughts, your thoughts determine your feelings, your feelings determine your actions and your actions determine your outcomes.
MINDSET > THOUGHTS > FEELINGS > ACTIONS > OUTCOMES
It all starts with MINDSET. So if you want to have an amazing start to 2022, then finish 2021 strong….That’s your mindset for success and that’s how I recommend you end the year.
Let me know how it goes.
