Sciatica

Sciatica / Radiating Leg Pain
Sciatica happens when the sciatic nerves are irritated. This nerve irritation causes
a flare-up. This flare-up results in lower back pain, burning, cramping, or
numbness. These complications then radiate into the thighs, legs, ankles, feet, and
toes.
Sciatica occurs when the critical nerves are irritated or pinched as they leave the spine in the low back. This irritation is an indication of a severe and worsening condition. Without correction, it can be quite disastrous for your health as nerves become more compressed.
Sciatica can occur due to disc problems, poor posture, spinal arthritis, muscle imbalance, or trauma.

The more chronic the condition becomes, the more difficult it can grow to resolve. We have to be very careful to avoid lasting nerve damage.
Previous treatment may have involved pain medications, muscle relaxers, physical therapy, massage, acupuncture, and even surgery.
Generally, the nerve pain is the result of a degenerating disc due to reduced function. This reduced function needs a functional approach to resolve the problem. Specific chiropractic adjustments can have near-miraculous effects, and the earlier they are administered, the better.
Someone who understands the spine must treat sciatica
Sciatica is complicated by weak core muscle strength and poor postural habits. Sciatica must be handled by someone who truly understands the workings of the spine.
Due to the pain resulting from nerve entrapment, it can often become so severe that many patients are sent straight to surgery. Unfortunately, low back surgery usually does not remove the root cause of the problem, only the consequence. Not removing the root cause leads to further surgical intervention, and eventual fusion surgery, which has a poor long-term prognosis.
At Total Health Chiropractic Singapore, we understand that this condition is the result of a functional problem, and we allow the body to heal simply by improving the spine’s function. Everything we do makes complete sense, and these adjustments can be very useful in treating a sciatic problem.
