Patient Intake

patient intake

At the beginning of your appointment you will fill out a health questionnaire. This will help assess your current health condition, medical history, levels of pain, and any recent or chronic injuries. Your chiropractor will ask about your profession and any physical activities that exacerbate pain and discomfort. This is also a great time to communicate your health goals.

To save time you may download your Questionnaire here

The Physical Exam

physical exam

The first part of the examination is a full posture appraisal using computer technology. This produces a posture report that is emailed directly to you.

During the actual physical exam, the chiropractor will assess your spinal alignment, movement and range of motion, and do any orthopedic and neurological tests necessary. The chiropractor will pay especially close attention to the neck and spinal areas experiencing pain, although he will check the entire structure.

If any degeneration, serious spinal misalignment or nerve pressure is detected then an X-ray will usually be recommended. The X-ray helps your chiropractor understand the structure, alignment and integrity of your bone anatomy. The X-ray also helps the chiropractor see the extent of wear-and-tear and any anomalies in your spine.

Your First Adjustment: Getting Immediate Relief

getting immediate relief

After the first consultation and exam, your chiropractor will determine if you can benefit from receiving a spinal adjustment. This gentle manipulation of a spinal joint also forms part of the evaluation as we see how certain joints move. More often than not, you will feel a release of tension from the spine and immediate pain relief.

Creating A Treatment Plan

If you do not require an X-ray your chiropractor will recommend a treatment plan based on the findings from this initial visit. The treatment will usually include spinal adjustments and focused exercises and perhaps traction. If X-rays are required then the care plan will be presented once the results are in.
